Wedding Invitations: Setting the Tone for the Big Day

Your wedding invitations aren’t just paper—they’re the first glimpse your guests get into your big day. They set the tone, build excitement, and let people know what to expect. For me, they were a chance to create something truly special.

When it came to choosing a vendor, the decision was simple. I’d seen Alaina’s work (Lumaca Paper) through friends who raved about her, and I knew she could bring my vision to life. I had a clear idea of what I wanted—timeless, elegant designs with thoughtful details—and Alaina delivered on every front.

Here’s how we brought our wedding paper dreams to life:

Save the Dates

I wanted our save the dates to feel fresh and fun, so instead of the standard “Save the Date” wording, I brainstormed a few options that played on our Colorado destination wedding theme. We landed on “Meet Us in the Mountains”—simple, playful, and perfect for a Rocky Mountain Bride.

For the photo, we used a favorite shot from our engagement session with Cassidy Brooke Photo (part of our photography package). Alaina took it from there, crafting proofs that were absolutely stunning. She paired clean, modern fonts with a rich deep green color palette that perfectly reflected our mountain setting.

One of my favorite details? The personalized monogram she designed for us. It was so timeless that I had her send me the design file and we’ve continued using it on our stationery today.

Wedding Invitations

When it came to the formal invitations, I wanted every detail to feel intentional and special.

  • Envelope Liners: I wanted something that would make an impression the moment our guests opened the mail. We chose a custom painting of the mountains as the envelope liner, adding a subtle pop of color and elegance.

  • Venue Sketch: The Broadmoor, our wedding venue, is an iconic part of Colorado Springs, so incorporating a sketch of it as the outer layer of the invitation felt meaningful as a nod to our favorite place.

  • Wax Monogram Stamp: Alaina suggested a monogrammed wax seal as a finishing touch, and it was perfect. Embossed with our personalized monogram, it tied everything together beautifully.

  • RSVP Cards: While digital RSVPs are becoming more common, we wanted to keep it classic with physical RSVP cards. There’s something about the tactile nature of a real card that felt more in line with the tone of our wedding.

The final result? Elegant, timeless, and so reflective of the vibe I wanted to set for our weekend.

The Extras

Alaina didn’t just stop at the invitations. She also handled all of our wedding-day paper items, like signage, welcome bag letters, and a custom venue map for our event itinerary. These small touches brought everything together and created a cohesive feel throughout the weekend.

Why I Recommend Alaina (Lumaca Paper)

Alaina’s attention to detail and ability to bring a vision to life made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. From her initial proofs to the final product, everything felt thoughtful and elevated. Whether you’re planning a wedding or any special event, her work is top-tier.

If you’re looking for a partner who can handle everything from save the dates to day-of details, I can’t recommend her enough.

Tip: If you’re on the fence about investing in custom invitations, consider how they’ll set the tone for your wedding. For us, they were worth every penny.

Wedding invitations are more than just a formality—they’re a way to share a piece of your story. Working with Alaina made our vision come to life in the most beautiful way, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.
